Motu’s senior staff run courses and teach in New Zealand universities to disseminate the results of our work and knowledge, and build New Zealand capacity to carry out empirical and theoretical research on New Zealand public policy.

University Teaching

Arthur Grimes is an adjunct professor at the University of Auckland, where he is responsible for graduate student supervision and contributes to joint research programmes.

Suzi Kerr has recently returned from a teaching and research sabbatical at University of the Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. She is also an adjunct professor at Victoria University of Wellington and supervises several graduate students.

David Maré is an adjunct professor at the University of Waikato, where he supervises graduate students.

Dean Hyslop is an adjunct professor at Victoria University of Wellington.


Teaching Materials

Environmental trading games

Motu has developed a game where participants take part in a simplified emissions trading system. This was designed to give participants a ‘hands on’ experience of trading. The materials are freely available to download here:
