EHF Fellow Anne-Marie Brook is developing the Human Rights Measurement Initiative.
Working in her OECD office in Paris in the mid-2000s, Anne-Marie Brook found herself looking for data sets that could help support economic advice to advance human rights. She found very little data, and gradually became aware of a major gap in the world’s knowledge in this area. Twenty years of experience as an economist has taught Anne-Marie about the importance of measurement for better understanding the world and developing solutions to problems. When something is not measured, it is not well managed. It is easily overlooked and undervalued.
She realised that the world doesn’t currently have a simple, transparent way to track the human rights performance of countries.
