Keshav joined Motu in November 2016 as an intern to develop his skills as a professional researcher. He feels privileged to be given the opportunity to interact with top-tier economists and public policy experts, in order to understand the entire research process, develop requisite technical skills, and gain useful practical experience by associating with a live project.
At Motu, he worked alongside Isabelle Sin on determining inter-generational mobility using some newly available linked longitudinal census data from Statistics New Zealand.
Keshav is pursuing a four-year Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences with Honours, majoring in Mathematics and Finance, concurrently with Graduate Diplomas in Economics and Computer Science, at the University of Waikato. He expects to complete these qualifications in 2017.
During 2016, he assisted in tutoring five courses in mathematics and statistics. He has also worked on an econometrics research project, as an accredited researcher with Statistics New Zealand and the National Institute of Demographic and Economic Analysis (NIDEA). The project involved utilizing micro-data from the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI) to estimate external migration at a sub-national level.
When time permits, Keshav enjoys listening to music, playing squash, and closely follows professional basketball and ice-hockey.
