During public consultation on the government’s 2030 emission reduction target (intended nationally determined contribution, or INDC), many stakeholders issued a strong call for greater public input into government decision making on climate change mitigation and greater collaboration across sectors in implementing solutions.
These messages are expanded upon in this briefing paper, which presents ideas on climate change stakeholder processes which emerged during Motu’s Low-Emission Future Dialogue (May 2014 through February 2016). They have largely been extracted from the report entitled New Zealand’s Low-Emission Future: Transformational Pathways.
