"This report is the second in a series of reports within the research programme: Affordable Housing in the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough Regions: A Solutions Study. Its primary focus is on residential land use and residential land supply change in the Nelson, Tasman andMarlborough regions from the early 1990s. The report describes the context and characteristics of residential land use and residential land supply for the major towns and settlements in each of the three regions. The report also has a secondary focus, considering a range of dwelling
characteristics including the occurrence of second homes, dwelling quality, dwelling age and dwelling size. The purpose of analysing each of these issues is to understand the local factors impinging on affordable housing in the three regions. The analysis complements the "bigger picture" analysis contained in the first paper within this research programme that analysed economic, demographic and housing trends within these regions and relative to New Zealand as a whole."
